SUMMARYThe position is responsible for supervising Swing shift and 3rd shift operations of the Sanitation department. Duties include training and supervision of sanitation personnel, shift scheduling, control over labor to ensure proper sanitation of all equipment, plant, and grounds, and ensuring all required paperwork gets properly completed on time. Supervisors must maintain a positive work environment and ensure compliance with food safety and employee safety standards.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.SafetyMonitors employee safety practices. When deficiencies are observed, coaches individuals and reports them to the Supervisor or manager and completes work orders if equipment needs to be repairedTrain sanitation personnel to understand procedures of cleaning for food safety, and personnel safety. Also trains Sanitation leaders and sanitors so they become certified to operate forklift and scissors lift. Day to day verification is required to maintain standards and ensure proper use of PPE's in regards to employee safety.Ensures that the team and team leaders are doing monthly Alchemy safety and GMP training. Helps conduct safety training sessions as needed or required.Ensures that subordinates are doing their exercises before each shift and follows up with those that are not.Enforces the company safety policies and communicates the safety practices of employees, i.e. lock out tag out, safe lifting, safe use and handling of chemicals, maintain organized work areas. LeadershipAssists team leaders, assistant team leaders, in their daily operations.Seeks to resolve issues (personnel, mechanical, quality, safety, GMP, etc.) directly with team leaders, employees, and other departments. When appropriate, escalates issue to the Sanitation Manager, offering solutions on how to resolve the issue.Understands and capable of performing all CIP circuits in the plantReviews all of the department paperwork (Daily Sanitation Document Control, Master Sanitation Program, Training, Absenteeism, Performance Reviews) and takes immediate actions to make corrections if neededConducts random, unannounced inspections on equipment that has been cleanedCommunicates with leaders of other departments to resolve issues or conflicts in a timely manner to minimize production and sanitation downtime.When there is need for supplies, communicates with Sanitation and/or Procurement Managers before items run out, i.e., PPE's, brushes, baling wire, etc.Coaches team leaders and employees on GMP's, proper cleaning practices, and company rules. Participates in spot inspections of employees cleaning practices and also assists Sanitarians with secondary inspections.Coordinates with Production and Kitchen team leaders and/or supervisors when something needs to be cleaned and/or sanitized. Provides good communication of when items will be ready.Schedules and leads meetings with team at least once a month.Motivates, leads, and coaches employees to meet sanitation standards and department goals.Addresses non compliance issues with Sanitation leaders and sanitors on a timely basis as well as recognizes individuals or groups for continuous improvementsEnsures the production/packaging lines are clean to ensure an on time start up.Seek continuous learning - Attends educational classes and seminars for self improvement / supervisory & leadership skills, technical skills, language (if needed).Responsible for implementing and maintaining the systems and procedures that support SQF.Performs other tasks as assigned by the Sanitation Manager or Plant Leadership TeamPlanningOptimizes the workload for maximum efficiencies while minimizing contaminations and downtime of Kitchen or Production process.Reviews the production schedule regularly to determine needs for shift change.ReportingResponsible for completing and turning in all shift paperwork on time.Ensures that all leaders and sanitors are properly trained on safety, GMP's and SSOP's and that this training is documented.It is the responsibility of all employees to uphold the mission of the Amy's Food Safety and Quality Policy. This includes following all Food Safety and Sustainability programs and participating in all required training. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises team leaders and employees working in their area and shift in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Assist in the interviewing , hiring and training of new sanitorsAdministers disciplinary actions after reviewed by Sanitation Manager and HR directorCompletes all performance reviews for sanitors working on their shiftQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties listed above.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCECollege degree in applicable area and/or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a food manufacturing sanitation environment.Familiar with Amy's products and processes.Knows the SSOP and safety of all equipment used in Production, Kitchen, and Canning.Experience with standards set by Amy's, State and Federal agencies, and 3rd party auditorsCapable of writing up SSOP's, and training manuals along with developing forms – ability to use Microsoft Office applicationsCapable of operating all CIP systems in the facility along with teaching these systems to other sanitorsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, audio or visual forms
