Plant Operator Job Description
Support plant and terminal operations by following company policy and procedures, and all applicable state and federal regulations, as a key member of a dynamic team promoting innovation and creative thinking.

As a Plant Operator at Tessenderlo Kerley, you will be responsible for:

• Load and unload trucks and railcars in accordance with company policy and regulations.
  
• Read and record local instrumentation and obtain and analyze product samples to ensure product quality.
  
• Contain, clean up, package, and label Hazardous Waste according to training and regulations.
  
• Operate manual valves and equipment, troubleshoot and correct irregularities with process and process equipment.
  
• Participate in the plant safety program, including presenting and attending required safety meetings, reporting potential hazards, and performing monthly safety inspections.
  
• Routinely inspect vessels and equipment to prevent equipment failure or damage.
  
• Maintain plant property in a clean and orderly fashion.
  
• Assist in plant projects, including maintenance, turn-around, lock-out/tag-out, and confined space entries.
  
• Implement emergency response plans and assist in mitigating emergency situations.
  
  
  To be successful in this role, you will need:
  
  
• A high school diploma or GED.
  
• Good mechanical and technical knowledge and skills.
  
• Ability to read and understand material.
  
• Basic mathematical and analytical skills.
  
• Basic knowledge of chemistry.
  
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Computer literate - must know basic computer skills.
  
  
  Physical Requirements:
  
  
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  
• Stand for prolonged periods of time.
  
• Climb multiple flights of stairs.
  
• Have the ability to perform various tasks using reaching, pulling and pushing techniques.
