Applicants must have graduated or be on track to graduate by June 2020. (If you---re a veteran, you must have graduated or plan to graduate between June 2014 and June 2020).Some of the positions the FBI offers include, but are not limited to:Computer Scientist:--Computer Scientists do everything from analyzing and preserving digital evidence to testing and applying technical and analytical innovations to building virtual computing environments and isolated analysis networks. You will have the opportunity to be innovative, test and learn and use your creativity and engineering skills in this essential role that directly impacts the FBI---s mission. This position requires a bachelor---s degree in computer science with a combined 30 semester hours in mathematics, statistics and computer science. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices, as well as Headquarters divisions. The Bureau is actively seeking Computer Scientists with skill sets fitting into the identified specializations:

  • Network Engineering:--Would hold network certifications (Cisco, CISSP, Network+), as well as have network administration experience, infrastructure knowledge (ISP, cellular, Wi-Fi) and encryption knowledge/experience.
  • Developer: Would have knowledge of and/or experience with Low Level Programming (C, C++, C#, Java, Object Oriented Languages), Scripting Languages (Python, Perl, Bash, Powershell), Database Administration, software design, SDLC, Agile Development, program management, event-based programming, encryption and iOS Swift.
  • Incident Response: Would have knowledge of and/or experience with Enterprise Administration, entry-level forensics, network administration, Powershell, basic concepts of operating systems, IDS/IPS and encryption.
  • Reverse Engineering: Would have knowledge of and/or experience assembly language, x86, x64, Ghidra, IDAPro, debugging tools, static/dynamic analysis, networking concepts/analysis, C programming, encryption and anti-forensics.
  • Cybersecurity: Would have knowledge of and/or experience with vulnerability management, security operations center, firewall/proxy, penetration testing, network traffic analysis, encryption and intrusion protection and detection systems.--Data Analyst: Data Analysts apply computer programming and statistical analysis to clean, standardize, enrich, and visualize data, allowing investigative teams to derive meaningful insights from data. You will work alongside Special Agents to expedite casework and assist intelligence teams by restructuring and visualizing data to reveal important threat information buried within substantial holdings. Candidates must have at least a bachelor---s degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in (one or a combination of) the following disciplines: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices, as well as Headquarters divisions. Digital Operations Specialist: Digital Operations Specialists are technical experts on investigative teams who specialize in criminals--- use of technology. This could range from identifying a bank robber by analyzing his or her digital footprint to targeting technologically sophisticated adversaries. Your work will enable investigative teams to illuminate relevant information while also minimizing the FBI---s digital exposure during operations. Candidates must have at least a bachelor---s degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in (one or a combination of) the following disciplines: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices. Electrical Engineer: As an Electrical Engineer with the FBI, you will work with electrical and electronic phenomena and the motion, emissions, conduction and behavior of electrical energy currents; designing electrical equipment, components or systems; and generating and transmitting electrical energy in an efficient manner. A bachelor---s degree in any field of study is accepted for this position; electrical/electronics engineering or a related major is preferred. This position serves only in Headquarters divisions.Electronics Engineer: As an Electronics Engineer you will assist higher level engineers in the research, test, evaluation and/or development engineering studies in multiple areas, such as Audio Investigative Technology, Cryptologic and Electronic Analysis, Digital Evidence Operations, Physical Surveillance, Radio Systems Development and Security Reconnaissance and Threat Analysis. A bachelor---s degree in any field of study is accepted for this position; electrical/electronics engineering or a related major is preferred. This position serves only in Headquarters divisions.Electronics Technician: Electronics Technicians are directly involved with the installation, maintenance and repair of the Bureau---s electronic communications systems, data networks and access control systems. The technician work you perform in this position impacts everything from on-site safety to ensuring the performance of communications equipment during investigative operations. An associate---s degree with a major in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics Technology or other fields related to the position in the area can be credited if labs were completed and hands-on work was performed. A bachelor---s degree with a major in previously mentioned areas will also be accepted. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices, as well as Headquarters divisions. Your work in this position would cover the different phases of vehicle maintenance, from initial inspection and diagnosis to coordinating and administering different types of repairs. An associate---s or bachelor---s degree can be used for this position; however, candidates must have experience in the automotive repair/maintenance field or nationally recognized certification in diagnostic scan tool familiarization (GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Snap-On, ASE, military, etc.), as well as an EPA-recognized refrigerant-handling certification. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices, as well as Headquarters divisions. IT Specialist: There are three variants of this position, as listed below.-- If you are interested in the IT Specialist position,--we will ask you to identify your specialty category when you apply.-- Please choose all of the categories/responses that pertain to you.
    • IT Specialist (Forensic Examiner) (ITS-FE): ITS-FEs are exposed to a new world of information technology and have the chance to work on unique investigations with partners across the United States. ITS-FEs use their technical capabilities scientifically, by applying rigor and process to the evaluation, preservation and collection of digital evidence. You will be part of an elite group of technical experts and have the opportunity to work not only on FBI investigations, but those of our partners as well. A bachelor---s degree is required for this position with a combined 24 hours in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices, as well as Headquarters divisions.
    • IT Specialist (ITS-General): IT Specialists are a critical resource on technology and information and configure, analyze, adapt and develop new processes and systems to ensure the FBI---s technical capabilities continue to improve. A bachelor---s degree is required for this position with a combined 24 hours in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management. This position serves only in Headquarters divisions.
    • IT Specialist (System Admin / Customer Support) (ITS-SA/CS):-- Provides technical support to Field Office personnel; analyzing, troubleshooting and providing direct assistance with the resolution of technical issues. You will also work to ensure the availability of technical services and systems, playing a key role in maintaining overall operational efficiency. A bachelor---s degree is required for this position with a combined 24 hours in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics or technology management. This position serves throughout the 56 Field Offices. KEY REQUIREMENTS:To apply for the Collegiate Hiring Initiative, applicants must:

      • Be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
      • Pass an FBI polygraph examination.

        • No use of marijuana within the last three years.
        • No use of any other illegal drug in the past 10 years.
        • No selling, distributing, manufacturing or transporting of any illegal drugs.
        • No use of a prescription drug or a legally obtainable substance in a manner for which it was not intended within the last three years.In addition, you must:
          • Never have been convicted of a felony.
          • Not be in default on a student loan insured by the U.S. government.
