These endeavors have been around for centuries and will continue to be a vital part of the global economy. We currently have a position available at our Don Plant - Pocatello, ID. In the Rocky Mountain foothills, Pocatello offers a university, parks, golf, and outdoor recreation.SUMMARYPlans and directs the environmental science function at the Group level under executive management direction, based on predetermined goals and objectives. Implements company environmental compliance strategies in the Group. Develops and implements the policies, procedures, and systems to maintain and enhance environmental performance of the organization. Generally manages three or more programs/projects in several areas of compliance. Staff/Group level position rather than a plant position.RESPONSIBILITIES* Directs all activities associated with subcontracting of vendors for services and equipment. Fully responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental compliance measures required under Federal, State, and local regulations. * Assists management in interpreting and applying technical regulatory requirements on production operations. Monitors cost control measures for environmental compliance. * Develops preliminary and final budgets. Manages compliance projects for operating facilities as required. * Provides leadership direction to management personnel in the environmental science functions at the plants. Interacts with regulatory and/or government agencies to ensure environmental compliance at the Group, plant, and project levels. * Keeps updated on information on new developments in regulatory changes in environmental requirements and incorporates this information into tactical business planning. Responsible for assuring an effective utilization of personnel and responding promptly to the needs of all the plants.REQUIREMENTS* Bachelor''s Degree from 4 year college or university* Ten plus years related experience and/or training. * Bachelor''s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field plus ten or more years of related experience. * Master''s degree preferred. Must have previous experience managing a large, complex plant environment. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must have a strong working knowledge of federal and state environmental laws/regulations. * Must be able to accurately define problems, collect data, interpret analytical results, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable recommendations to upper management that support the production and final goals of the company. * Must be capable of and willing to respond to emergencies during weekends and/or holidays.Disclaimer - These statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
